Delhi Metro, The metro network spanning in the National Capital of India and it's bordering states with 12 Lines and 287 stations, this is not a metro, it is a beast.
The longest and largest metro system in India, the only profitable metro system with no cost cuttings in constructions, fully independent in its operations, debt free and doing what metros are supposed to do, reducing carbon emissions significantly.
You can tell how good this metro network is that everybody in India, regardless of their caste, religion or place of birth can by united by their hatred of the city of Delhi (I am not even joking, they really hate Delhi to the core) but still can't manage to hate the Delhi metro. It's so good, that people who hate the city with passion still can't control themselves from praising it.
I will be discussing Delhi metro in detail now and explaining how it did the things right that the other metros did wrong and are still doing it wrong.
Delhi metro was first planned in late 80s, the construction began in 1998 and in Dec 2002 it began its first operation.
It achieved one of the greatest achievement in India on its debut day, which getting completed four years ahead of planned schedule, a feat that is still impossible to achieve in India in any project. Indians just can't be not late.
