>>965842Ignoring the luxury trains though, the level of amenity has gone down over the years in line with the economy death spiralling ever since the bubble popped.
With the Cassiopeia put into a coma, the idea of affordable luxury is dying. All we have now is Gran Class. But even Shinkansen comfort in general has taken a slide with shorter journeys and faster trains. No more restaurant or bistro (which were, according to kitchen staff, not the best working conditions in the world), or hell, even the snack counters and vending machines are gone now. But then the N700 ones were shit anyway, they only had water and tea for some reason. And now trolley service on some runs has taken the boot.
The Limited Express has lost much of its restaurant shine too.
But maybe, just maybe those joyful trains like the dessert train and non JR Limited Express.
Or I'll just have to stockpile plenty of obento, booze and desserts next time around.
