>>1130550Speaking of Hachiko, what's going to happen to the E233s that currently run onto the Hachiko Line, once green cars get put on Chuo-Rapid in 2021?
For those who don't know:
> Two up trains and two down trains (one of each on weekends/holidays) on Chuo-Rapid continue to/from the Ome/Itsukaichi Line via Tachikawa and Haijima> At Haijima, the down train will decouple. 6 cars go to the Itsukaichi Line, 4 cars go to the Hachiko Line (their platforms are only 80m long so they can only handle 4 x 20m car trains). > They go to Komagawa (which is how far electrification extends on Hachiko) and return to Haijima, being parked at a pocket track overnight.> Early the next morning, the parked 4-car trains onto the Hachiko Line again, then return and couple with 6-car Itsukaichi Line trains at Haijima and run as full 10-car Rapid trains to Tokyo.> Previously this was done with 6+4 car 201 series trains, E233s replaced them in March 2007 (a few months after the E233-0 debuted on the Chuo Line)My educated guess would be that all trains headed to Takao and points beyond would be 12-car trains, but trains headed to the Itsukaichi Line would remain 10 cars long. This would make sense since Ome Line trains are currently 10-cars but the platforms are long enough to handle 12 x 20m car trains (Ome Liner trains are E351 series) and it makes little sense to put green cars on the Itsukaichi Line.
