>>1131633In all honesty, just ro/ros. I've grown to hate them to the point I'm trying to get my Tankerman PIC just so I can get away from the fuckers even though I know I'll probably be stuck on them for a few years more.
Containers are like Ro/Ros but a little better. Ro/Ros can be in and out of port in hours; the record on our ship was just 5 in Beirut, and we would have made it in under 4 if there hadn't been a crane blocking the ramp for a few hours. Container ships generally take more than that. And while it's a slight exaggeration, bulkers are extremely dirty no matter what cargo you are carrying. There will ALWAYS be dust everywhere no matter the cargo. Some kinds of cargo are dirtier than the others; God help you if you get stuck on a coal ship. Grain ships just have the extra fun of dealing with poison and fumigation in the holds to keep insect colonies down, and the insects showing up en masse when you start discharging. Ask any person who has worked on a bulker; even the ones who love the relaxed attitude on the ships will tell you how dirty the ships are.
