I know there are options for continuing with this but I don't have any personal sentimental attachment to the frame, I've never even ridden it, or else i might keep going. I think i gave it the chance it deserved to live again though, the woman i bought it off told me about some serious mental health issues she had and i think this beat up bike was weighing on her mind and i'm glad she just bought a new bike and passed on the project. I enjoyed working on it. It was cheap. No regrets really. And now i've got a good condition XT group, a couple of light ritchey parts, and hopefully some nice wheels if i can get cones for them. I'll find something else for them.
It's just how shit goes sometimes. As long as i've got a bike i can ride, i'm happy.
