I took the sleeper train Wroclaw - Kiev recently, even though it's not very far it took close to 24 hours, at the border they manually swap out the boggies to accommodate the wider Russian gauge and do thorough border checks, then there was a scheduled 6 hour stop in Lviv which was a great opportunity to check out the city.
Pic related isn't mine but the 3-bed cabin looked identical. Mats everywhere, fresh bed linens and a samovar at the end of the wagon for tea. Only downside was that there was no AC and mediocre ventilation, so it got quite hot at times. Also no diner.
It was great having so much time to ponder, read and just stare out on the wheat fields(in this case)
