One of the guys got a little overconfident on the flat and long story short came off the front of his handle bars and smashed the tarmac head first at what must have been a minimum of 20mph
His helmet literally broke into two pieces, held together only by the inner netting, he had a big bump on his head and was really dazed (and oddly complained about being cold idk if this is a head injury thing)
I have absolutely no doubt he would have been pavement pizza if he hadn't been wearing a helmet
I've never gotten on a bike without one since witnessing that
