>pic related: my makeshift "gravel bike". A GT Aggressor 3.0 with innerbarends for some neutral hand positions. Going to get new semi-slick tires for it soon, and maybe a ridgid fork if I can find a good deal on one. >>1650215>that picThat gravel is easier to ride with a 25c tire road bike than most old city roads. I love riding smooth gravel like that. I much prefer it to old roads and cycle paths full of sealed and fresh cracks, potholes, and imperfections. There are some cycle paths around here that have been deteriorated down to cobbles, the gravel on the shoulders of these paths is far smoother to ride than the actual paths themselves. Of course nothing beats a freshly paved surface for road cycling. If I were living in a large city and using a bike as my primary transportation I think I would prefer a beatup looking old ridgid mountain bike with slicks and innerbarends. In other words: I believe a "gravel bike" is better suited to ride beat up city roads than a road bike.
