Also the new ICE 3 neo units class 408, which are currently being delivered by Siemens and are already used on national services, received their ERA certification for Belgium and the Netherlands, and will soon replace class 406 serving lines to Brussels and Amsterdam. These units have been becoming increasingly unreliable due to issues with electronics resulting from aging semiconductor parts. It's planned to use the remaining class 406 units on national lines for the time being, but it's not unlikely they will be phased out in the next few years as well depending on how much effort it takes to keep the rather small number of units running (compared to mono-current class 403).
