The dynamo isn't part of the hub, it sits on the axle and has a part that can flip down and get caught in the spokes causing the dynamo to engage, or you can leave it unengaged for unhindered riding. Awful dynamo/lights but I really like the design. Plus, it's illegal to ride without lights in Germany and I don't have any spare so it's staying until I go get some 5 euro pieces of shit.
It did have fenders and narrower tyres on it before, yes. Horrible plastic clip on things. There is zero chance I'll get any new fenders on with these tyres though; there's less than 1mm of clearance I swear.
