Anyway I found the right frame and it's on the way, a 1986 Cannondale SM-500, not the one with 24'' rear wheel but the 26 front and rear model, very rare. Paid £120 for it plus import taxes (£46).
Anyway mission accomplished, going to strip the paint off, inspect the frame, address any issues, polish/clear coat and build it up to look something like picrel.
