But I think that before you start changing up seat and door configurations you should try to increase frequency and train length as much as possible. Also have more hand holds, because in my city (incidentally, with longitudinal 2+2 and 2+3 seating thanks to broad gauge) people are forced to stand in the doorways because there aren't enough hand holds in the aisles.
