I travelled around China for a year, bagging my bike up to go on trains and buses and then unfolding it and riding away at the destination. Sort of cycle touring but really just having a bike to ride around cities and the countryside and taking transport between cities.
It was lots of fun, I regret nothing. Only had to replace some consumables, nothing broke otherwise and me and my bags aren't light.
No idea about Tern but XDS are a quality Chinese bike company, one of the better ones here.
