the americans with disabilities act is possibly the best legislation that has come out of washington since work and safety regulations affer the triangle shirtwaist fire, and i am appalled that we still dont have something like it in europe.
americans complaining about accessibility is like fish in the ocean wondering what the hell is water. i cant begin to explain this shit to you, everything you see is affected by ADA, window sizes, sidewalks height, table height, vending machine height, door knob heights, door widths i could go on and on, and all these design regulations have trickled down to the rest of the world because you can design to the USA and then sell that also in Europe and elsewhere so we indirectly benefit from the ADA. Apartment buildings should have elevators, trains and busses should be accessible, because it isn't just crippled people who need it.
if you train a little to hard and cant climb up the stairs you might need it, if you god forbid have an accident you might need it, when youre older and cant move as fast you might need it, having accessibility features in design benefits us all. same reason you can buy a car with an automatic instead of a manuel. the more accessible things are the better things are for everyone
