CRIP ran part of it, CNW ran part of it, UP supplied the equipment and also ran part of it. Something like that.
Well, as I'm sure you guys know the Rock Island and CNW were on shaky turf just like MILW, with Rock prob being the worst. Eventually the condition of CRIP and CNW forced UP to axe the deal, and they sought out MILW to partner with instead.
Part of the deal was for MILW to provide their highly reputed passenger services on UP trains. This also called for MILW passenger equipment to be painted in Union Pacific colors (which was actually cheaper and easier to maintain than MILW's superior colors) so equipment could be shared as needed.
So after about 1965, MILW's home passenger trains like the Twin Cities Hiawatha, Olympian Hiawatha, Pioneer Limited and Arrow would be turning more and more yellow, until finally...
