always lurki/n/g and drooling over the pornie pics of those marvelous bikes you guys have and show.
but this is an appreciation post to show gratitude and love for a different kind of bikes, the kind of my ride.
technic specifications go as crappy, cheapo, unknown branded, generic aluminum frame, shitty cliptoes, shimano acera 24 speeds, dat seat and stem position, 19+ years old and more patches on each tube than in my granny's quilt.
but lightweight, sturdy and faithful as the best.
i made literally thousands of km's with it (i live in Argentina), on coastal and andinian patagonia, steep sierras in córdoba and san luis, wide sandy beaches in buenos aires -and uruguay-, high altitude deserts in salta and jujuy), with and without luggage, and no more than minor adjustments in speeds and brakes.
together we´ve jumped ramps and steps, conmuted uncountable times trough batshit crazy traffic of buenos aires, strolled on sunny riversides an attended many political manifestations, which is kind of a sport where I live.
and i've still had the nerve to take it to a couple of dirts where i almost kill myself trying to clear some too long gaps (i suck on that).
and my bike is still with me, carrying my old bones everywhere.
so i make a toast to all those shitty bikes that win our love on every turn of the pedal..
