>>1304950That's really good advice but the trail was similar to this one.
I also need to correct myself. It was probably only 30 miles I was out of water, I had turned around after 40 miles (as per
>>1304948) and had been thirstier than I realized drinking all my water that I had refilled in town very quickly. So, probably 30 miles after my last drink. It doesn't seem very far and I feel stupid saying it but it was hot as balls, I was riding hard and sweating.
Anyway, really interesting things started to happen. The smells were unbelievable. There was a small creek that I had rode over on my way out. It had not noticeable smell the first time but on the way back it smelled so strongly of wetness that it was unbelievable. Some little drainage creek that completely filled the senses with the smell of peat and muck and just wetness; totally indescribable. Then a mile further there was a fertilizer tank on the back of a farm trailer. The smell was coming out of it all chemically like but enticing. Maybe it was hallucinations, I don't know. The muscles started aching horribly after that and everything was tightening up. It just sucked a lot. Only 30 miles too and while I guess it was 80 in total, only 30 without water; feel like a pussy saying it.
I have much respect to people that have broken that 100 mile mark.
