>>1757577i'm in the process of painting pic related black to use with a black titanium screw. i would have just used it as it is but it had a couple of unsightly scratches and the anodized layer is really thin so that it's smooth and not like a proper black color, it's not rugged like on a dt swiss rim. my frameset came with a reasonable quality top cap of the countersunk type but it's more bulbous looking, this flat top cap looks more pro. a lot of other top caps have the wrong shape for my taste, or protrudes too deep into the steerer tube, or has logos/graphics which i don't want, or the carbon ones often use the twill weave instead of plain weave or are matte instead of glossy. i wouldn't recommend going this route of painting things to a novice but i have some experience with wetsanding chinese carbon parts and i'm willing to die on this hill, probably overcompensating a bit after my shitty experience with my first bike from a small amateurish brand. applied black edding 751 gloss paint marker (enamel model paint would also work) very thickly and filled in the low spots with more paint after waiting a few hours (holding it up against my computer monitor helped me see the low spots from the glossy reflections, otherwise it's hard to see with how dark the paint is) and then sanded it flat. still working on the chamfer but the chamfer turned out to be easier than i thought it would be because the paint once flat kinda drooped down where it's not supported by the metal underneath so you can see the ridge where the chamfer begins. then i'm probably going to try oven baking it and polishing it to a gloss and then coating it with liquitex high gloss varnish.
