Virginia and Truckee Railroad in Nevada.
It served Reno, Carson City, and Virginia City, the center of the Comstock Load (teehee...load), a massive silver deposit. It was found in the mid-1850s around the time that the California Gold Rush began to wind down, and many miners moved from California to Nevada as a result. Virginia City during its height was one of the most affluent places in the country, and the Virginia and Truckee was nicknamed "Queen of the short lines." A lot of its original equipment still exists and some in working condition, as their lives were prolonged by the Hollywood movie industry in the early 20th century.
