My pink fatty. This bike has gotten a lot of use lately because my $20 SPD shoes are finally falling apart (after like 6 years lol) so I haven't ridden my normal commuter, and pinky has flat pedals.
On the road, it's surprisingly fast and well-mannered, not to mention quite comfortable and plush. It's a bitch in the city, as it is slow to accelerate because of the heavy wheels+tires, but my commute is only 3 miles through the city, then 10 miles of open country-ish main roads, no stops for 7.5 miles! Once you're past 10-12mph, it's not much different than a hybrid with 35mm tires, except it has a bit of self steer that's easy to compensate for. Coming home, there is a nice 1-mile downhill that I regularly hit 30+mph on. On a road bike I have hit 45mph on it, but the gearing of the fatbike and its fairly upright posture means it maxes at 35mph. That's fine though, because 35mph combined with that little bit of self steer is pretty sphincter-puckering.
Pic related is fatpink leaning on a 1964 REO Gold Comet. This is on an unfinished extension of the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail, which I use as a slightly longer, more scenic (and this bit at least) unpaved alternate route to work.
