I really like the alternate grid concept with the squares that James Oglethorpe plotted, shame they didn't continue as the city grew past the 1850s. The way the squares work to discourage traffic and prioritize the pedestrian is pretty great, though I feel the streets could be a bit more narrower, the width of streets is perhaps my biggest gripe with this plan.
There was a recent push to build new squares to the east but they appear to be stalled, haven't heard much about it in recent years.
