I knew that the history of the Skarloey was basically the history of the Talyllyn, almost beat for beat, and that Awdry did that to advertise the Talyllyn to the general public, which was successful as now the Talyllyn is thriving. But I was more so talking about the mainline engine incidents. I know Awdry mostly based them off of news stories in the papers, his conversations with railway men, and his own childhood experiences with trains. I was just wondering if their were definitive incidence that were recorded as being inspirations for certain stories, like Edward and Gordon being based on Awdry's experiences of listening to the coded whistles of banking engines outside his house.
