Brace your arms and pitch your weight backwards. Use your front brake only. The front brake should be strong enough to lift the rear wheel off the ground. Get a feel for maximum braking, just before the rear wheel lifts. If you use your rear brake then as well, it will just lock up the rear wheel, which has no traction, and it will skid.
If your front brake isn't strong enough to lift the rear wheel, get new brake pads & cables. If you want more info, see below:
