Was going to use an old Shimano biopace triple, but I got a pair of those VeloOrange 50.4 style cranks. Gearing range is similar, ~300%, I like how they look, and I've wondered for a long time if they're any good.
They shift fine, and are well-made overall (occasional sharp edge or milling marks). Only real complaint is that the chainring bolts are stainless steel, and kind of soft. They're 4mm both sides (no funky slot wrench), and when I took the thing apart to check for/apply antiseize (it was assembled dry), my hex bit deeply enough to get stuck in the female side of every single one.
Installed with a 113mm bb, the suggested 118mm must be for 135+ rears.
