Sure the shorter routes seem feasible (like San Jose to SF, or the southern California sections), but they're already served by commuter rail services, light rail, and busses which makes the CHSR redundant on those shorter runs. And even if people did adopt the system on those shorter routes, would the CHSR even be able to handle the passenger volumes of services like CalTrain, MetroLink, and BART?
