At the end of the day steel bikes are extremely comfy. Mine weighs the same as my buddys carbon bike and was alot cheaper.
Built it up for fun (from some leftover pro team spare frame) and was suprised how nice it was to ride and having had 5 carbon, 3 alu bikes before this one all were beat in that department.
Forks are just so much lighter than steel ones, so carbon forks makes sense.
Unfortunately it's not that easy to find non butique steel and alu bikes nowadays.
