>>1472371>tapering to 1" which could work on standard 1 1/8Idk, I have no experience with 1" threadless but I think that less stiffness in steerer is always a bad thing...if you want more absorbtion that can be achived in simpler ways - steel 24.5 bars? maybe a steel threadless stem? oversized cork grips? Going back to 1" seems like one of those Grant autism moves.
>I put low trail fork on a touring frame and it moved like a snakeTrail is affected by HA, fork lenght as well so I cant tell..I just like road bike fast handling very much, its very easy to countersteer on them as well, mtb are horrible at countersteer - mtbs are high trail, short chainstays, that combo on road gives a low responsive but not comfortable ride and it shines on the descents...they however achieve high trail primarily with a very slack HA, not with fork rake (which is almost always around 45mm, extremly small for those HA) - you can get high trail by small fork rake and steep HA.
Isnt Jan Heine is doing something like extra low trail with a high rake fork and steep HA? I think that is the right direction for chill road not the unresponsive high trail.
