I can understand why you might not want to sit directly over the rear wheel if you're sitting bolt upright ridin comfy. And his slack angled seat and head tubes, which do make sense, do push the rider back over the rear wheel more.

nice things are nice, some people don't really care about performance or money and just want something that looks cool to them
it looks kinda cool, so it's probably just nice to use
it's not my cup of tea, but people prepared to buy expensive frames are doing us all and the used market a great service
you can find the same 'ripoff' dumb shit from 10 or 30 years ago online for cheap and that's great. Or even just higher end stock bikes that are far past the point of diminishing returns. It's great that idiosyncratic bikes are made.
