so im trying to plan out my first serious training year based on friel's CTB. but i have some doubts, hope you guys can help.
correct me if im wrong. For what i understand the final part of builiding the training plan involvers assigning annual hours. with that you can see how much week hous you have to do (according to the period you are doing). and then you even have another table that divides those weekly hours in "day hours" that you should apply with the training patterns chapter 9 (Fig 9.1). (this is the table that shows each period (base 1, 2, 3, build 1, etc, etc) as a graph with intensity and duration for each day and gives you a suggested workout by code (that are explained in the apendix C).
well my main doubt is reading that last table and assigning hours. first thing is that it says clearly to choose only one workout. so what happens when you want to train 2 times in the same day? how do you go for th second workout of the day, repeat the same thing?, choose another?
and my main main doubt: some routines (from apendix C) are short. like an hour, (if you guys want i can go into details, but for what i remember the A2 and A3 intervals are short). but according the hours i should be doing 1.5 or 2 hours the shortest days (im aiming at 550 or 600 annual hours). that makes me wonder, what do people doing 800 or more hours annualy do? i know i should add some warm up and cool down time, but it seems too much time for some days. wich makes me wonder if im not getting something correctly.
thanks! and any tip about building my training plan is more than welcomed.
btw dont think it matters but prior to this i was training following some logic gathered here and there, mainly doing intervals, tempo and endurance rides + decent rest. but i reached a limit and think a need more planned structure.
and sorry for my basic english. it is not my main language, thats why redaction must suck.
pic related is not my bike
