I ride mine without issue, having said that I had a few police cars slow down when passing on the other side of the road. Been flagged and shouted at several times but always ignore. Every time I take it out I expect to have to evade police, pick routes that have easy to access getaway routes. I too enjoy night ridies and use them to scout out new routes, exploring every alleyway, park, allotment, waste ground, and other potential escape route in my town. So even though it's always there at the back of my mind, there is pretty much nothing to worry about, there are very few places where I ride that I couldn't lose caged old bill in a couple of minutes, the only coppers I would be concerned about are those on motorbikes, but so far I haven't encountered any.
The truth is that when any copper sees you their instinct is going to be to try and stop you, they know anon, they just fucking know, ngl that fact adds to the excitement of hitting the road. Just don't make it easy for them.
