You might argue that when you attach 2 short 4-car train sets together, then the single deck wagons would be in the middle of the train.
Now the question is if such a mixed configuration would be interesting for future trains on the S-Bahn Zürich. German railway companies seem to use these new trains for longer RE services though. I never liked the mixed single deck and double deck operation of the SZU on the S4 Sihltalbahn for aesthetic reasons. Maybe the SZU actually might be interested in that Flirt-Kiss mixture for their new trains, as long as the acceleration is quick enough.
