>>1341697>Poorly designed soviet superblocks were a fad that no modern city is investing in. They cater to cars only.Western Europe is now Soviet Union? Those cater mostly to public transportation, but don't outright make use of car impossible. Also, those are still being built all over Western Europe. Some of 'em to replace commie blocks built in 60's and 70's as some of those aren't worth renovating.
>For sure, I bet theyre okay. But it defeats the point of living in a city. No competition, all those people and none of the wonderful things a city can bring. Fallafel shops and antique chopstick stores etc.Plenty of healthy competition. Falafel shops are just another variety of sandnigger fast food joint, essentially a fucking Subway operated by suicide bomber. Pretty niche business. Antique chopstick store isn't even a niche business. For that kind of business you need a lot of population to make profit, several millions in metropolitan area.
>May as well build a brick wall in front of your business. People don't want to get on a bus. They probably already drove in a car to get where theyre going. Making people walk or drive even a couple blocks kills cities, because youre making everyone make extra stops or pay more bus fares to conduct business. Thriving cities allow people to do everything everywhere. Are you implying that every single service is your own block or one next to it in proper city? That is pretty insane. I'm starting to get why you think superblocks are bad. Because you want Judge Dredd Megablocks with a massive mall on street level, one that caters to every possible niche and stuff that are bellow niche.
