the top of the tire is thicker than most
but the sidewalls are very thin
so far the only punctures have been though the side of the tire when bikeing though deep gravel that also contained small bits of glass
the compound of rubber used is very hard and does not have much grip
so while it wears slowly it is hard to use on some wet surfaces
epoxy coated concrete, grass ,wood , telecommunications manhole covers
another thing is the width
narrow tires (1.5" and less) have a high ground pressure and are far more likely to puncture on small objects
and will tend to break glass bottles where a larger tire (1.75" and larger) will sometimes bounce off them
tread blocks are another consideration
tires that have them will tend to absorb small sharp objects and hold them in place until the tread block wears out
sometimes punctures are the result of small objects held in the tread blocks so it pays to check them for cracks and use a sharp point to flick the glass and mice teeth out of the tread
