Here's a quick map of additions I'd propose for Melbourne. Red is trains, blue is trams, green is monorail.
- Use the Alamein line, the Flemington Racecourse branch, and old outer circle corridors to make an orbital train line from Gardenvale to Williamstown Beach
- Extend the Glen Waverley line out to connect to Ferntree Gully, going along Blind Creek and picking up Westfield Knox
- Add a branch off the Dandenong line at Huntingdale out to Scoresby to pick up Monash Uni and a bunch of business park offices
- Extend the Footscray tram into a northern orbital, since there's not much of that in that area compared to the southeast
- Add a suspension monorail to serve Tullamarine Airport and Doncaster (tourists will love that shit)
- Other little bits to connect up lines where the ends already come close to each other
- Something for the Port Melbourne area, tram or train, but I don't know what
I'd like to see electrification out to Melton and Stony Point, but that should wait at least until everything is sectorised, since I'd also like to see everything eventually converted to 25kV AC. Also not pictured is reconnecting Moorooduc to Baxter to provide better access to the Mornington tourist railway.
