I got my license 25 years ago, I remember filling out a multiple choice form to effectively ensure that I could read English (because it certainly didn't ask anything complicated) and paying some trivial fee. I've renewed it by paying a trivial fee and I use it (less often these days) when I get carded for alcohol, when I'm flying domestic, or when I'm forced to rent a cage because work sent me to some flyover shit hole with no real infrastructure
It peeves me that demented half-blind boomers with the reflexes of a pigeon that just flew into a glass door are permitted to continue driving because they were too short sighted to buy a home somewhere reasonable and so the rest of us have to risk our lives every time we step outside so that they can retain the illusion of "independence"
Cars need to be banned, right now, and everyone who drives them can just deal with their bad choices
