I've seen it done with v brakes, I should get some photos of that next week
normally only done on tandem or trikes
and sometimes on cargo bikes
I'm fairly used to the modulation of v brakes
my set up is not as linar as it could be, and there is a bit more flex than I like
still using cheep soft pads, not yet on kool stop pads or something like that

its just that I am getting a 20 kg bike upto 60 kph
or a least I used to, a few near crashes has spooked me a little
when riding at normal 30 to 40 kph speeds I dont really have to use the brakes all that hard
mostly they never get used above 1/3 of what they can do
maybe I have gotten better at looking ahead or something
