Come to think of it, I'd argue that you could get a superior service simply by operating the sleeper on Saturday evenings as well. The fact that you can't travel between capitals on Friday evening, enjoy a Saturday away, then be back home on Sunday in time to sleep in your own bed and be ready for work on Monday morning, seems counterintuitive; it can't be a DfT thing because it's under Transport Scotland, both previously as a franchise and currently under public ownership.
