>>1474064Yeah, the 40mm setback is bonkers and not meant for a bike with traditional Italian racing geo. I was really worried about fit when I got it because the bike it's on should have a 20mm setback post at most, but for some reason it works alright for me, although at the end of a recent 4hr ride I had some issues with lower calf and ankle pain. I'm not sure if that was because I haven't done enough long rides this year, but I would probably be better off swapping to a 20mm post on that bike.
>>1474137Weight lifting mainly exercises fast twitch fibers in your leg muscles. Cycling long distances, particularly TT, is slow twitch. The power measurement that everyone goes by is FTP, which is the highest average power you can sustain for an hour, if you're going all out. For the most part, you figure out your FTP, and your happy spot for endurance is around 80%-85% of that unless you're doing a TT or something. World Tour guys sustain around 300-310 for hours on end, then they have enough left in the tank to hammer at over 400 at the end, or do a 1,200w finish. Their FTPs are usually in the upper mid-300s. Some guys are FTP monsters, like Ben Wolfe whose FTP is probably around 450, but he's also rather heavy at around 85kg, which is why you don't see him on a world tour team.
Anyway, FTP isn't the end-all be-all of numbers. It's a datapoint. Weight, VO2max, endurance, and others play a big role. It's nice if you can do 250 for an hour, but can you maintain that after 5?
