>>1058221My daily work/school commute is pretty short (about 7 miinutes, used to be around 20) but I don't drive and ride everywhere else in town. Usually ride through some traffic but usually ride the sidewalk on one road that's on the way to work since it is narrow with fast traffic. It does well in snow/ice conditions. Also just an observation, in medium sized cities like mine, cars go the fastest because there is more distance than a small town but less congestion than a big city. I usually enjoy riding on country roads though. I do ride off road quite a bit (including on some commutes when I take long off-road shortcuts to avoid traffic), so the mountain bike is probably best for me. I am interested in a road bike though. I have an old Schwinn 10 speed but the rear wheel is out of true and rubs the chainstays. Maybe eventually I could fix it or get it fixed but no big deal.
