An Amtrak connection would be nice first especially one that connects to the Twin Cities and Chicago but their governor royally messed that up.
The distances don't seem long enough to justify commuter rail. I don't see extending it out too far would attract many more riders even though I do know someone who commutes to Madison form Beaver Dam. Maybe light rail or limited stop streetcar?
I was really close to going to school at Madison (twice actually ha) and I would have loved to see them expand their transit options. I had a friend that brought his moped to school when he lived in Madison because he didn't want to be THAT GUY who carries a bunch of groceries on the bus.
It always amazes me two states as messed up and dysfunctional as Wisconsin and Michigan have such good flagship state schools.
