I got one of these bad boys in my basement. Rockrider 5.0 from more than a decade ago, hi-ten steel, somewhere between 14~15kg, 26in wheels. The basement can be slightly damp, so the chain and cassette are pretty rusty.
The drivetrain needs a complete overhaul, would need roughly 160eur to kit it with 2x9 altus (shifters are gone, unfortunately). Rear wheel might not take cassettes, BB might be shot, another 60eur.
The local used market is shit enough that there's only other hi-ten bikes or roadies from the 70s that nobody else wanted are left for under 200eur.
Should I overhaul it in order to get a new beater or just say fuck it and get a trek fx 2?
