For around 1000 yurocoins I'm looking at

https://www.cube.eu/en/2021/bikes/mountainbike/hardtail/attention/cube-attention-sl-blackngrey/the first one is around 100€ more, but has SRAM components which are supposedly better.
Why do these bikes have just a single gear in front? Is this a weight-saving gimmick, are you being gimped in regards to max speed/shifting speed with these?
