>>1381515If your rear wheel is Shimano splined you'll need a Shimano RD with a ShiftMate. 9sp 105 mid-cage is nice because back then Shimano still had a designer who cared about aesthetics. No idea what I'd do for 10sp. I think there's a ShiftMate that lets you use Campy 10 with Shimano cassettes. Use Chorus or Record shifters. Anything under Chorus is potentially shit. 9sp era brakes sucked, use newer. The current non-series skeleton brakes are good. 10sp has much more comfortable hoods. If you do 9sp with silver everything and you need a band on FD, try to find a 70s Nuovo Record FD. It's not necessary but it's kind of the cherry on top and works well. At least it does for me on my 9sp build.
