pic related, previous owner put a road race crank on a Raleigh step-through townie I'm trying to sell. I went to the co-op to find a sensible crank but none of the 2x square tapers would go onboard enough for the FD to reach the outer ring. so I put an MTB triple on it so it could use the little and middle and then I wrapped the big ring in an old stretched chain and glued it down with clear silicone (also more pant-leg friendly)
I would have just removed it but the crank that worked with the derailleur was riveted together so oh well.
