>>1697002It's very low key once you're in cruise. If its your leg and you're flying then you don't even have to pay attention to the radio. In cruise I usually listen to music, zone out, and snack on whatever I brought or whatever is on the plane. Other pilots read or play games on their phone. Some bolder guys will sleep or watch downloaded movies occasionally.
The flying itself is comfy but there's a lot more to it than that. I recall a low point earlier in my career; I had been on the road for 5 days straight that week, was working 6 days a week every week for a year and a half, hadn't seen my girlfriend in a month and was making less than $15/hr, I couldn't fall asleep because the cheap hotel pillows were hurting my back and the couple above me was fucking LOUD and HARD and multiple rounds. I was going to get less than 5 hours of sleep. I turned my face into the sheets to cry but no tears came, I just moaned and shuttered. I've made poor decisions that led me to that point, but everyone goes through tough times in this industry.
