>>1518933Been skating for 20 years. I would suggest getting what the kids today call a "cruiser" board. Us old folks just call them old school or pool boards. These are wide for us big guys but still have a nose and tail to manuver around pedestrians. Get some 58mm 97a wheels. These are soft enough to ride rough terrain but hard enough to maintain speed. (Long biards aren't faster that is a bs lie) Get comfy riding around and maybe learn to ollie to hop on curbs. Once at this point go to the skate parks and learn from people that are better. It can be intimidating but who cares have fun!
Don't get a longboard unless you are bombing 50mph hills. They are the laughing stock of skateboarding and people that get them are known for their lack of wanting to put any effort into it.
