Bikes are really quite simple though. It's not even vaguely as confusing or frustrating or hopeless as working on a car.
Think of cutting a notch in stripped cleat bolts with a chisel, or having to replace a crank because you stripped the threads, as just part of your fun hobby. Relax and think holistically about the whole process.
