Nice little 3 day camping trip with a buddy, me on my alu road bike with 10spd compact (50/34, 11-28) and 32mm tires, him on his weird ass gravel thing with a hardtail frame, 3x7 gears and 45mm tires on 27.5 wheels. Both ~15kg of cargo each. Thought it was gonna be mostly paved roads and a bit of dirt at the end, but we ended up riding something like 50km through gnarly and steep as hell double track. Needless to say I was way overgeared and in the steepest climbs my rear wheel simply spun in place (plus I could hardly even push the lightest gear). My friend just spun2wun to the top, but he bonked hard at the end so I guess we even out. Downhills were sketchy as shit, especially on a road carbon fork and rather skinny tires.
All in all great fun, next month we're going on a longer trip, looking forward to it. Probably gonna get some front end storage.
