Here is a more practical map, existing Amtrak lines can be upgraded up to 125 mph from which service would bank from.
Amtrak Seaboard services are in green (with light green being existing/likely HrSR in the near future), with dark green being future expansions/upgrades. California's future system is in bright red, with dark red as future expansion north to Seatac and east to Nevada and Arizona. It all ties together with the existing Southwest Chief service, which would be upgraded and operate at a frequency capable of sustaining trunk lines to Citudad Juarez and Denver and a Texas Eagle expansion to a transfer stop. Louisiana would get a connection as well, in blue. Florida has it's own privately operated system which I didn't want to draw, but it would conceivably connect everything between New Orleans, Key West and Jacksonville.
