a guy pulled out of a carpark infront of me. Very apologetic. Just didn't see me. I got his details and said i'd take it to a bike shop the next day to check for damage. Bike shop (friendly) formally quoted $700 (resale value) (price they would have sold it for) and $2000 for a ritchey replacement frameset (repair cost).
I told the guy it was a write off and he admitted fault to his insurers who then called and emailed the bike shop to check then sent me $700.
Bought the shop guys some beers.

Not really. Old race frames are prone to die if you crash them. The common way is like this.

this frame was still rideable and it is supposedly possible to bend it back, but it's pretty sketchy.
